PM ACADEMY A regular series of fortnightly webinars to support professional development and enhancement of patient care by the sharing of best practice. Utilising PM Trainers from the successful Clinical Leadership in Pharmacy (CLIP) programme to deliver practical learning sessions of skills designed to aid personal and organisation development. To complement skills acquisition there will be a second session in the webinar to exchange best practice which will be delivered by presenters whose satellite sessions have been significantly oversubscribed at Pharmacy Management Conferences. It is anticipated the PM ACADEMY will be very popular so early registration for each webinar is recommended. This webinar has been sponsored by Consilient Health who have had no input into the design or content of the webinar. WEBINAR SESSION SYNOPSES AND SPEAKER DETAILS Negotiating with the patient – we are all patients so how do we do it more effectively? - PM Academy Trainer Getting a patient to fully understand, acknowledge the importance of and commit to change are very difficult things to do under normal circumstances. Now that many people are taking more ownership and interest in their health and treatments as a consequence of the availability of information. This presents opportunities for raised awareness and educated patients but also creates challenges for health care professionals having to deal with internet self-diagnosis from Dr Google. Being able to effectively position, explain and gain agreement on ways forward involves the subtle arts of persuasion and negotiation – key skills that can affect many areas of our professional and personal lives. During this session we will take learning from the psychology of doing this effectively with other people. Raising your understanding of techniques, methods and skills, that can help to influence and convince patients about making lasting changes to their health through effective treatment choices. Having a structure to doing this is important and allows you to be consistent and more successful with your patient outcomes – so join us for some great learning that is easy to implement straight away.
