Welcome to the PM Healthcare Conference: Building Medicines Strategies around Population Health: A modern approach to meet the needs of local communities

John Chater, September 2026

How can pharmacy contribute to improvements to population health and the wider objectives of healthcare?

Today’s PM Healthcare conference: Building Medicines Strategies around Population Health: A modern approach to meet the needs of local communities, at the RCGPs in London, brings together delegates and expert speakers for a day of knowledge sharing, discussion and practical learning focused on the key issue of population health.

Chaired by Kandarp Thakkar (Chief Pharmacist & Clinical Director of Medicines Optimisation, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust), the conference looks at population health from the perspective of pharmacy, providing insights into innovative ways of enhancing services and supporting improvements in health.

Our opening presentation will be delivered by Minesh Parbat (Chief Pharmacist and Clinical Director – Strategic Medicines Commissioning, NHS Shropshire Telford and Wrekin NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Cluster ICB) who will focus on the key issue of delivering population and neighbourhood health through medicines optimisation, with a focus on NHS Long Term Plan priorities.

We will be reporting on each presentation throughout the day, with regular blogs and updates on LinkedIn, sharing the key insights, innovations and essential learning.
