Robert Symes, Primary Care Network (PCN) Pharmacist and Respiratory Champion for South Central Ealing, demonstrated how pharmacists can make a measurable difference to respiratory care by combining clinical expertise, population awareness, leadership and data-driven innovation.

Drawing on real-world examples from his own practice, he showed how proactive case-finding, multidisciplinary working and targeted medicines optimisation have improved patient safety, particularly for children and young people with asthma.

His presentation also highlighted th importance of tackling health inequalities, supporting workforce development and using digital tools to identify patients most at risk before problems escalate.

Robert’s key takeaways were the importance of data-driven, proactive care, addressing inequalities, the power of collaboration, and empowering the workforce.
