ICB/ICS Development & Medicines Strategy Forum – How do Pharmacy professionals become system leaders?

At PM Healthcare’s ICB/ICS Development & Medicines Strategy Forum today, Andrew White (ICS Chief Pharmacist, Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB) delivered an engaging and interactive opening session on how pharmacy professionals can step confidently into system leadership roles.

Referencing literary figures and key business leaders, Andrew asked: what makes a good leader and how can pharmacy professionals become system leaders?

The message was clear: pharmacy already has many of the ingredients needed for leadership — deep medicines expertise, a strong safety culture, and a trusted presence within communities. The opportunity now is to be bigger and bolder to influence population health and improve system-wide outcomes.

The importance of effective leadership on patient outcomes and tackling many of the challenges in the system were also identified. The call to action was an energising one — focus on strengths, engage widely, and help shape the future of integrated care by leading with intention, clarity and impact.
