Implications of Biologics for homecare – the way ahead
Sarah Garnish, Homecare Pharmacist at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Reading, explored the growing role of homecare services in supporting patients receiving biologic medicines and highlighted the opportunities this presents for respiratory care.
Drawing on her experience, she outlined how home delivery of biologics can improve convenience, support treatment adherence and utilise technological advances to improve services.
Sarah also discussed the practical challenges facing the expansion of homecare, including capacity, funding and short-term thinking affecting future planning.
Her experience of how best to utilise Homecare for Biologics included the importance of strong collaboration between teams, learning about and understanding the process, and keeping up with admin and paperwork.
