‘Primary care providers working collaboratively and in partnership at neighbourhood, place and system level to improve health and wellbeing throughout our communities.’
At PM Healthcare’s ICB/ICS Development & Medicines Strategy Forum, Luvjit Kandula (Director of Strategy & Transformation, CPGM) set out an ambitious and energising vision for how pharmacy is helping to reshape system engagement and change the culture in healthcare delivery.
Beginning with the example of Greater Manchester, the session described how system change in the NHS enables strategic shifts in service provision, with a focus on primary care and the impact of pharmacy services on neighbourhood health when engaged to work closely and effectively with other care providers.
A central theme was transformation through integration: embedding pharmacy within neighbourhood teams, expanding clinical services, and using data and digital tools to improve outcomes and reduce inequalities. This shift is not simply about relocating services, but redesigning care pathways around patient need.
